Every Nigerian business that crosses N25m in annual turnover must charge 7.5% VAT and file monthly returns with FIRS. Many SMEs delay this until they have to — then pay a consultant N200k to backfill records.
This guide walks you through the FIRS VAT filing flow using only Supreme ERP and the FIRS TaxPro Max portal. No consultant required.
Before you start, you need:
- Your TIN (Tax Identification Number) — if you don't have one, register at JTB Office
- Your FIRS TaxPro Max login
- A bank account for VAT remittance
- Supreme ERP set up with your business profile (TIN, address)
Step 1 — Configure VAT in Supreme ERP
Go to Settings → SaaS Platform → VAT & FIRS invoicing (host-only). Confirm the VAT rate is 7.5 and "Plan prices include VAT" is on. Set your supplier TIN and registered address.
Step 2 — Issue compliant invoices
Every invoice issued in Supreme ERP automatically gets a sequential number (SSSL/INV/YYYY/NNNNN), shows the 7.5% VAT split, and includes both supplier and customer TIN. Print to PDF for filing.
Step 3 — Generate the monthly VAT report
At month end, go to SaaS Invoices and filter by month. Total invoiced × 7.5% ÷ 107.5% gives the VAT collected. (Or read the VAT column directly — we already split it.)
Step 4 — File on TaxPro Max
Log into TaxPro Max, navigate to VAT, enter the totals, attach the supporting invoice list (export from Supreme ERP as CSV).
Step 5 — Pay and reconcile
Pay the VAT due via Remita, save the receipt in Supreme ERP against a dedicated "VAT Payable" account.
Time taken: 25 minutes per month once set up. Cost: N0.
